Make your own marble soap.

This effect is easy and quick. Melt your soap base and add any fragrance oil of your choice. Next, pour the soap into the mold. Spray with alcohol for bubbles before adding color. Now, add a few drops of red  and swirl with a toothpick slowly. Then add the blue and swirl with the toothpick. Do not mix too much or colors will blend together right away. (They will bleed together eventually, however.) When dry, pop the soap bar out of the mold and the back is actually the "marble" looking side. There you have your 4th of July soap!

Kid's Soap

If you need help trying to get your child to take a bath, here is your answer. They will want to use this soap to get to the middle for the toy! What a great incentive. Or, they can even make it with you.

To make this soap, use the Ultra Clear Soap Base and any scent (Bubble Gum fragrance oil used above). Spray alcohol in your mold first. Pour a little soap in the mold and then put the toy in the cavity. Next, pour the rest of the soap over it. Spray alcohol for bubbles once again. Depending on the weight of the toy, it may float to the top. Just hold the toy down with a toothpick for a few minutes until it sets slightly.

Personalizing Soap

This month's Feature is an idea from a member of Southern Soap Store's guestbook, Stephany Taylor. She wrote in with this wonderful idea to embed names or pictures inside clear soap bars.

You can start by using acid free scrapbook paper and print out a name, quotation, or anything else you desire. Another idea is to laminate regular paper or even your favorite photo (laminated). The paper in the soap featured above was cut using wavy scissors.

Next, make your clear soap using Ultra Clear Soap Base and the fragrance oil of your choice. You may add light color if desired. Spray alcohol in your mold before pouring the soap into it to prevent bubbles. Pour half of the soap into your mold and let it dry (time depends on thickness).

Finally, you will pour the last half of the soap into the mold and push your paper until it hits the dried first half. Spray alcohol once again. Once dry, the bar pictured above was cut using a wavy soap cutter.
