1. Some soap molds allow you to make your soaps in 3D (like the wedding cakes mold). Just follow the basic recipe and once you take them out of the freezer, put the two sides together and let them dry. You could also lay both sides flat and then push them together in the end, although this doesn't work as well.

2. Did you know that some household items make great molds? Some suggested molds to try: cupcake/muffin trays (clean thoroughly after use), old ice cube trays, yogurt containers, and plastic Easter eggs.

3. Try putting popsicle sticks in your popsicle mold and make soap on a stick.

Note: Make sure parent supervision is present so that nothing is eaten!

4. You can use your fragrance oils for more than just your soap. Try some of these ideas given by Maria Given Nerius in "Soapmaking For Fun and Profit" (1999):

bullet

Add some oil to water in a spray bottle to freshen up rooms in your house.

bullet

Try dabbing cotton balls into the oils and then placing them in drawers or hidden spots around the house.

bullet

Sprinkle drops of an oil onto dried flowers.

bullet

Make a sachet with fragrance oils and flowers or herbs.

bullet

Keep away flies and moths with lavender oil (they hate it, we love it!).
